ROTARY CLUBS

OVERVIEW

ROTARY CLUBS COMBINE LARGEST SERVICE PROJECT

Making Spirits Bright began as a combined service project of the Sheboygan County Rotary clubs. The objective was and continues to be twofold: to collect pantry items for the Sheboygan County Food Bank and to provide an exciting, affordable, and quality family event. And while Rotarians have donated thousands of hours, the volunteers required is decidedly more than club members could offer. This made it necessary to enlist help from community businesses, organizations, and individuals and has enhanced the event to truly be a community endeavor.

OVERVIEW OF SHEBOYGAN COUNTRY ROTARY CLUBS

Each club selects the projects to support financially and with volunteer time commitment from members with local, national and international causes all a part of the mix. Your support of each club’s fundraisers allow them to continue their missions.

The Sheboygan Interact Clubs are international service organizations, sponsored by the Sheboygan Rotary Club, that give high school students the chance to make a real difference while having fun. Every Interact club carries out at least two service projects a year: one helps their school or community and one promotes international understanding. Members can connect with community leaders, develop leadership skills, and make international connections. A number of students have participated in the World Affairs International Seminar and a few in Rotary Youth Exchange programs.

Locally these clubs have participated in the Broughton Drive Cleanup, Survey Says (winning in 2015!), Summer Lunch Program, Senior Picnic, Love Bowls, Children's Museum Easter Egg Hunt/ Drop, Making Spirits Bright and the Lobster Boil. Fundraising has included selling Candy Grams, scarves (to support Jhoole, an organization benefitting artisans in India), and winter hats. And they've supported the What If? Foundation, providing meals and education to children in Haiti; Shelter Boxes, providing shelter and basic living supplies to those affected by the earthquake in Nepal; and support to an orphanage in Africa.
